Mardi Gras popular as ever for Cayuga wine trail

If the ragtime jazz playing at Long Point Winery didn’t give it away, the purple, green and yellow ribbon certainly did: this weekend was the 10th annual Mardi Gras celebration on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail.

Employees dished out chicken gumbo and festooned the guests with beads Sunday afternoon. Behind them, the wine casks were decorated with banners and masks.

“This is one of the most fun events of the year,” Long Point employee Myles Mangen said. “It actually brings a lot of people back – we get people doing this every year.”
